Rockstar Games: A Two-Decade Long Collaboration
Our relationship with Rockstar Games dates back to Grand Theft Auto III, the game and site that debuted in 2001. Since then, we’ve worked with the Rockstar Games in-house team to design and develop seven more GTA sites.
With more than 235 million games sold, Rockstar Games continues to engage fans through their latest series, GTA V, GTA Online, and Red Dead Redemption 2. We’re proud to have played a role in that legacy. This includes the most successful entertainment launch of all time, the official site for GTA V, which made a cool $1 billion in sales in just three days. CARNEVALE was also tapped for the design and development of the GTA V Official Manual. In addition to Android and Windows Phone versions, it became the iTunes App Store’s #1 app.
Earning Street Cred
Screen and video galleries don’t do GTA justice. We decided to immerse users, allowing them to explore dark allies and city neighborhoods on their own. Along the way, they stumble into the usual cast of characters—the ones you think of when you think Rockstar Games.
Partners in Crime
For us, success means being able to blend in with our client’s teams and processes, while staying true to our own creative methodology. In many ways, we view ourselves as an extension of the Rockstar Games digital marketing team. In addition to Android, Kindle, and Windows Phone versions, it became App Store’s #1 app. In October 2018, and again in 2021, we created the manual app experience for Red Dead Redemption 2, which opened as one of the most successful entertainment launches of all time. We’re proud of the UX engagement design work we do with Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive.

A Guide to the Game World
GTA V was one of the first games to include the “second screen” into the core gameplay. We created the GTA V Official Manual app for iOS and Android to be a natural companion to the game, providing detailed game maps, points of interest info, radio playlists, and game credits.
