Sometimes college is just... not right, or maybe a "not right now." How can a young adult uncover their true passion without a little bit of exploration?
That's what West Michigan Center for Arts + Technology - WMCAT Step Year is all about. Step Year is a unique mix of college and career exploration, self-discovery, and connections to employment pathways in a variety of sectors. The program is tuition-free and is open to those age 18-24 who have a high school diploma or GED living in Kent County.
We've been hosting workshops for Step Year since the program began, on topics like software design and development, app building, and emerging technology. Our hope is to increase the awareness of our field particularly for marginalized groups and those in non-traditional educational pathways.
For over ten years now, we've been able to sponsor WMCAT. We've done everything from leading their Intro to Coding class to building their website. And we feel so fortunate to be able to continue to contribute to such a worthy organization.
